The new production of Pato Lógico, directed by Ricardo Henriques (text) and Nicolau (illustrations), is slightly inspired on the film Rear Window, with James Stewart and Grace Kelly, directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1954. The more curious readers will be able to find in First Floor Right creative restlessness and a tribute to Hal Pereira, Hitchcock’s art director.
Description
Author
Born in Lisbon, he inherited the taste for drawing from his father and writing from his mother. He is the editor of a children’s magazine and author of Sea and Theatre, illustrated by André Letria and published by Pato Lógico. In between books, he does graphic novels, advertising and press copywriting. After Heads or tails? The Short Story of the Coin (Official Printing Office), First Floor Right is his second book with Nicolau.
Nicolau
He was born in Vila Nova de Cerveira, in 1986, studied design and has travelled the country as a musician. Amongst paper, screen and wall, he looks for the space between the immediate and the perfection, with humor and some degree of relevance. Recently, he worked for Casa da Música, Oporto’s subway, Lisbon Public Libraries, Official Printing Office, among others. He organizes, with Joana Estrela, the collective drawing nights of Drink&Draw in Oporto, city where he rides his bike.
