Professor Srivastava is a globally recognized authority on sustainable agriculture and knowledge systems, with over fifty years of experience in agricultural extension, policy formulation, and farmer education.
He is a scientist, inventor, and visionary leader, often hailed as the “Father of Community Radio in India,” having played a pivotal role in prompting the government to enact the Community Radio Act. He serves as President and CEO of the World Development Foundation (WDF), faculty member and mentor at the Paris‑Thames International University, advisor to the U.S.-based Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG)—a leading B2B platform—and to VisasQ (VQ), a Japanese expert‑network service company. He has also taught management courses at the Royal Institute of Public Administration in London, CAD courses for Japan’s NHK, and computer networking courses for Norsk Data in Norway, among others. In 1991, he served as a Commonwealth expert, and in 1992 as an expert for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In 2017, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from KEISIE International University in South Korea.
He previously held the post of Deputy Director General of All India Radio (IB(E)S Senior Administrative Grade, equivalent to a Joint Secretary in the Indian government), where he established the organization’s Information Technology Department, and retired in 2007 at the rank of Joint Secretary (HAG) in the Indian government. From 2000 to 2002, he served as President of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers, India (IETE). He pioneered Knowledge Agriculture®, invented Broadcast Markup Language and Cloud Broadcasting, and has published more than 150 papers.
He has led large‑scale projects in India and Ethiopia, disseminating practical agricultural knowledge to hundreds of millions of farmers and laying the foundation for the “Knowledge Agriculture” framework.
The Institution of Electronics and Communication Engineers, India, honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the field of broadcasting. In 2021, he was named one of India’s Top Ten Scientists by Amino. He was included in the “Who’s Who in the World” in 2001 and, in 2017, was bestowed with the Knight’s Medal of the Universal Medical Humanitarian Order of St. John of Jerusalem. He received the Asia‑Pacific Broadcasting Awards in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, and 1990, and in 1992 served as an ITU expert in Malaysia.
His earlier work, “Interactive Television: Technology and Market,” was published by Artech House in Boston, USA.
