Toshinari Masuda
Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, in 1965. After dropping out of Hokkaido University, he worked as a journalist. He won the Excellent Prize at the 5th “This Mystery Novel Is Amazing!” Awards and made his literary debut in 2007 with Satun: The Brown Bear’s Forest. In 2012, his work Why Did Kimura Masahiko Not Kill Rikidōzan earned him both the 43rd Ōoka Shōichi Nonfiction Prize and the 11th Shinchō Documentary Award. Other notable works include Seven Emperors of Judo, The Untold Story of Kimura Masahiko, Tales from the Hokkai Times, and The Policeman’s Heart, among others.
