Foreword
I mostly eat out. Every time I go to the market to buy organic vegetables or high-quality meat for my dogs, I feel a little unbalanced, often wondering why my dogs eat better than I do? With this thought, I started to cook for myself slowly. Now we eat just as well! Thanks to those two picky dogs—they let the other seven dogs eat well, changed my daily routine, improved my cooking skills, and made our meal times relaxed and happy.
For work, I have to learn dog nutrition knowledge. However, most books sold in Taiwan of China are just dog fresh food recipe collections. I was often troubled by my lack of nutritional knowledge when making fresh food, so I had to start reading foreign relevant books. In the United States, there are more than 2,000 books on dog nutrition alone. I learned a lot from these books and sorted out a lot of dog nutrition introductions and applications in this book. There is no pressure to read these nutritional explanations—dog ingredients are the same as human ingredients. As long as you master the ingredient ratio, making fresh food is as simple as counting 1, 2, 3.
I usually make a week's worth of meals, divide them into seven boxes, and freeze them for preservation. I take one box out to thaw in the refrigerator before going to bed at night, heat and cool it down the next morning, then add an appropriate amount of eggshell powder, fish oil, and occasionally some homemade nutritional powder or sugar-free yogurt. In just 3 minutes, a perfect pet meal is ready. Written from a learner's perspective, this book shares my experience in cooking and making dog fresh food, hoping to help pet parents who love their dogs deeply.
