Feature

The highly-anticipated new work by Alexander Hagelüken, a German economist and the author of the international bestseller 'The End of Money' and 'Economic for Kids'!

Description

From Donald Trump to Alice Weidel, right-wing populists have been using anti-political rhetoric to win over voters. They incite opposition to free trade, the European Union, immigration, democratic institutions and climate protection. But as the world has witnessed every day since Donald Trump's election, their "economy of hate" is destroying prosperity and worsening the lives of everyone: trade and the economy are shrinking sharply, care workers are in short supply in regions with restricted immigration, democratic systems without institutions are collapsing, and the earth is suffering in the absence of climate protection. Alexander Hagelüken, the economic editor of Süddeutsche Zeitung, uses numerous examples and data to reveal how the right has made the rich richer while causing suffering for the majority of society. So far, the rise of right-wing forces around the world has mainly been discussed from a political and moral perspective. But: "It's the economy, stupid!" Hagelüken vividly and thoroughly describes how right-wing politics simultaneously attacks prosperity, peace and freedom. He proposes new ways to win back voters. To preserve our democracy, a new economic policy is needed now more than ever.
