Feature

Nominated as Best Artist (drawing and writing) -TCBF 2025
Acclaimed author Alice Milani’s first children’s book takes readers on a journey to the remote lands of the Arctic region, teaching readers of all ages about inclusivity and how to overcome difficulties, especially in a mother-daughter relationship.

Description

Helen and her mother arrive in an Inuit village. The mother, an overbearing and haughty career woman, is making a documentary about the local people and never stops complaining. Helen struggles to adjust to the extreme cold and fish soups, misses home and cannot understand the attitude of the locals: they never got angry and are always polite. But then, day by day, and with the help of the other children in the village, Helen learns a new way of life, where making a fire and fishing in the ice are just small steps towards a broader multiethnic cultural dialogue. But an unforeseen event will test the relationship between mother and daughter, and even their very survival.

In the end, the true protagonist of this story is the adaptability and vitality of childhood.
