Description

The Untold Story of Literature’s Greatest Plane Pilot While Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is best known as the author of The Little Prince, this extraordinary man defies simple categorization. He was a plane pilot, an illustrator, a journalist, an inventor, a mathematician, a philosopher, and a humanist—a Renaissance mind comparable to Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Dürer, or Erasmus of Rotterdam. As a sky explorer, he charted aerial routes through unknown territories, navigating by stars. As a war correspondent, he wrote articles imbued with humanity that transcended ideological barriers. A visionary inventor, he registered fourteen patents designed to revolutionize aviation. A mathematical autodidact, he proposed theorems born from inexplicable intuition. This meticulously researched biography reveals the multiple, often contradictory personalities that coexisted within Saint-Exupéry: a scientist yet a fervent believer, a rational mind charged with emotion, a philosophical thinker yet utterly pragmatic.
From his earliest writings to his journalistic chronicles in Russia, the United States, and war-torn Spain, from his first flights to his adventures as a pilot in South America and North/West Africa, this book immerses readers in fascinating anecdotes and explores the circumstances surrounding his mysterious 1944 disappearance.
