★“I won’t get my hopes up” !But what if something wonderful happens anyway? A sweet story for every child who gets excited easily, but hides their feelings for fear of being let down.

Description

Mumu is the kind of child who gets excited about everything. But every time she hopes for something, it ends in disappointment.
One day, she’s had enough—she decides she’ll stop expecting anything at all. But just as she starts to close off her heart, the soft sound of frogs croaking outside her rainy window stirs something deep inside her.

What was supposed to be a ruined birthday afternoon takes a surprising turn when Mumu meets a frog—and with it, a spark of unexpected joy.
I Won’t Get My Hopes Up! is a gentle, heartfelt story that reminds us even the worst days can hold beautiful surprises.

We’ve all had moments when we’ve thought, “I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up…”—a morning filled with excitement that ends in tears.
This story begins right there, in that familiar place. But it doesn’t stop there. With the soothing rhythm of falling rain and the croak of frogs, the book quietly reminds us that life still has room for unexpected joy, even when we think we've given up on it. This is a story for every child who gets excited easily but hides their feelings out of fear of being let down. It’s a gentle, reassuring reminder that it’s okay to hope again—even after we’ve been hurt.

Author

When I think back to my own childhood, I remember just how deep and overwhelming my emotions could be. I still don’t quite know why things that seemed small to others felt so huge to me. But that lingering feeling stays with me, and it's what drives me to comfort children who might feel the same way I did. To keep my connection with the child I used to be, I spend my days with kids and my evenings writing and illustrating picture books.
