everyone dives into their own watery world—
where all are welcome to splash, play, and explore!
A tiny ant tells a truly gigantic tale!
An ant stands before the vast, endless ocean. It tosses pebbles into the water, gazes quietly, and loses itself in thought. Up close, the ocean’s immense scale is both awe-inspiring and a little frightening. Suddenly, three squirrel siblings shout, “Wow! It’s a lake!” and leap in. Calling the ocean a lake? Before the ant can process this, rabbits come bounding over, yelling, “It’s a pond!” followed by a child who jumps in crying, “It’s a puddle!” Then a large tiger trips over a rock and tumbles in, splashing water everywhere. The animals’ water play is ruined, but they quietly gather their floaties and watermelons and decide to follow the silent tiger somewhere new. They arrive at a beautiful waterside spot where everyone—squirrels, rabbits, the child, the tiger, and even the tiny ant—finds joy and happiness.
Boram, who warmed hearts with Splashy Sunflowers—a story about the growth of a tiny sunflower in a tall sunflower forest—now returns with another tale from a small being’s perspective: an ant. Though the smallest character in the book, the ant undergoes the biggest growth throughout the story, leaving a powerful impression. Instead of blindly jumping into the “ocean” the tiger leads them to, the ant finds its own perfect place on a tiny droplet of water, savoring its own moment. The story whispers to readers: Even if you’re different from others, everyone can find their own way to be happy.
So what if it’s not a real ocean? Who cares!
A shared “ocean” created by warmth, understanding, and care
The book presents many different perspectives on the ocean, but none of the animal friends dismiss another’s view or force their own. Through this, the author explores the importance of understanding and accepting others for who they are. When the friends arrive at the waterside, they shout, “Wow! It’s the ocean!” and leap in excitedly to swim, fish, and nap in the warm sun. But the ant, much smaller than the others, hesitates at the water’s edge. Just as readers may worry that the ant will miss out on the fun, the tiger—who has been quietly watching—gently gives the ant its own perfectly sized “ocean.” This unexpectedly subtle and warm gesture delivers a deeply moving moment. Everyone’s Ocean (original title: All Dive In!) shows how understanding and consideration can create a shared world where everyone belongs. You’ll see that kindness not only warms those who receive it but also those who give it—a perfect theme to share and discuss with others.
Whimsical Art and Imaginative Fun!
Meet a Cast of Charming Characters!
The image of the ant—holding a floatie, notebook, and pen, looking slightly nervous by the water—instantly sparks curiosity. As the story progresses, the ant seems to grow smaller, yet readers find themselves searching for it on every page. This is the author’s way of keeping the focus on the smallest among us, woven into a narrative brimming with creativity. The book is filled with vibrant characters: a squirrel that naps through everything (even a capsized boat!), another squirrel that won’t let go of its acorn-baited fishing rod, a polite rabbit who uses honorifics for everyone, a playful child in watermelon-colored clothes, and a tiger who seems fierce but has a heart of gold—secretly watching over his friends with quiet care. Each character shines with unique charm, making the story even more delightful. Dive into this book and become the ant, the tiger, or any of the friends—see the world from their perspective and enjoy every moment of this adventurous, heartwarming journey!
Description
A delightful and heartwarming story about perspectives that change based on situations and positions, and the importance of respecting differences!
Tap, tap, tap— an ant comes running to the ocean. Overwhelmed by its vastness, the ant hesitates to enter. In contrast, three squirrel siblings, a rabbit, and a child excitedly jump in, each shouting, "It's a lake!", "It's a pond!", "It's a puddle!"
Then, a large tiger slips and splash! tumbles in, scattering the water everywhere. The friends decide to follow the tiger, who quietly gathers its fallen belongings and heads off somewhere. What awaits the animal friends?
This is the second picture book by author Boram, whose first book, Splashy Sunflowers, won readers' hearts with its warm perspective on small beings and whimsical imagination. Through the story of friends—each with different sizes and thoughts—gathering and playing in their own ways, the book explores the importance of embracing others' opinions and perspectives. It also shows how the friends never force their views on one another, and how the tiger, seemingly unintentionally, watches over and cares for everyone. This reminds readers how crucial it is to think from others' perspectives and show consideration, and how small acts of kindness can bring great joy.
Now, let’s all open the book and follow the ant, squirrels, rabbit, child, and tiger—and dive into our own watery adventure!
