Description

The distinctive features of the shamanic mind are primarily determined by two factors:
— The particularity of the cultural community the shaman belongs to (main subsistence activities include: reindeer herding, sea mammal hunting, land hunting, fishing, and gathering);
— The particularity of the specific role activities undertaken by the shaman, who acts as an intermediary between the human world and the spirit world, the world of ancestors, and the world of natural elements.
Currently, the linguistic tools available for describing the shamanic mind remain insufficient. This is natural, as the shaman’s activities within the clan-based tribal society were not mass activities and thus were not a common topic of general discourse. However, the author has striven to avoid introducing new terminology, with the exception of two structurally quite evident terms: “noogenesis” (consciousness generation / emergence of thought) and “psychotele” (psychic body / spiritual body). The text cites both existing works by authoritative authors and employs descriptive testimonies from renowned individuals with extrasensory perception and predictors regarding their lives and activities. Naturally, it also draws upon the author’s own observations and accounts from trusted witnesses.
