Description

This charming collection of children’s poetry follows a little gnome and his forest friends through their everyday adventures. He cooks and bakes for his companions, looks forward to a birthday party, and even has the occasional quarrel with his best friend, a mouse—though never for long. Cvetka Sokolov, a master of children’s poetry, brings the forest to life with warmth and imagination, creating a world filled with friendship, fun, and the magic of nature.

Author

Cvetka Sokolov is a renowned Slovenian children's literature author, poet and teacher, mainly creating works for children and teenagers. Born in Ljubljana in 1963, she obtained a bachelor's degree in English and German from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana in 1988 and a master's degree in 1999, specializing in the written language of English learners. Her works include poetry, fairy tales, stories and young adult novels, with themes often revolving around nature, daily life and children's growth issues. In her children's works, she frequently depicts the small joys of children and how they overcome difficulties with the support of adults; in her young adult problem novels, she focuses on thought-provoking topics.

Andrea Gregorič is a new-generation Slovenian illustrator of picture books and children's poetry, born in 1991 in Kranj, graduated from the Department of Visual Communication at the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Arts. Her works are known for their "lightweight collages + low-saturation digital coloring", often blending the four seasons of the Slovenian mountains and forests, folk tales, and contemporary childhood emotions in the same picture.
