Description

During the Warring States period, Mi Yue was the most favored young princess of King Wu of Chu. However, her life took a dramatic turn for the worse after his death. Her mother, Lady Xiang, was banished from the palace by Queen Wu of Chu, and Mi Yue, along with her brother Mi Rong, narrowly escaped disaster after disaster. Mi Yue and the Chu prince Huang Xie were childhood sweethearts, deeply in love, but fate had other plans. She was sent far away to marry into the state of Qin as a concubine, accompanying the legitimate princess Mi Shu.

Mi Shu ascended to the throne of Qin as its queen, and Mi Yue, reluctantly, became a favored concubine. The once strong bond between the sisters began to fracture after Mi Yue gave birth to her son, Ying Qi. The struggle for succession ensued, and King Ying of Qin died with regrets. Mi Yue and her son were exiled to the distant state of Yan. Unexpectedly, King Wu of Qin died in an accident while lifting a heavy tripod, plunging Qin into chaos.

Seizing the opportunity, Mi Yue returned to Qin with the help of the Yizhou army, quelling the internal turmoil. Her son Ying Qi ascended the throne as King Zhaoxiang of Qin. Mi Yue became the first Empress Dowager in history, known as Empress Dowager Xuan, marking a new chapter in the annals of power and influence.
