Description

Guo Jiadong, once the "golden child" of every parent's envy, now finds himself reduced to a "lying-flat" youth, trapped between the fading halo of elite education and the crushing weight of career failures. His obsession with blue whale migrations becomes his only escape from reality—until the day these symbols of ultimate freedom plunge into the ocean's depths, forcing him to confront his own beached existence: Should he remain the "eternal prodigy" in his parents' delusions, or carve out a new way of being?

Author

Chen Jiarong, born in 1998, currently resides in Beijing and holds a Master's degree in History from University College London. Since 2013, she has been publishing poetry works in both Chinese and English, which have appeared in various journals and magazines such as “Macao Daily“, “Poetry Tide“, “Young Writers“ and the “KCL Literary Journal“ (King's College London Literary Journal).
