To completely eradicate the dark force known as the "Black Robe," Da Fei and the silver wolf Miller embark on a quest to find the second Moonstone. Their journey leads them to a scorching desert, where Miller is gravely poisoned by a giant Thorny Crown plant while saving Da Fei. Desperate to find a cure, Da Fei locates the antidote, Apocynum, only to be mistaken for a thief by Fengling, the desert girl who guards it. When the Thorny Crown strikes again, Da Fei and Miller choose to turn back and save Fengling, forging an unlikely alliance. With Fengling's help, they decipher clues from four ancient ballads to locate the Moonstone hidden within an altar and defeat a powerful demon. To prevent the "White Bones" from using the Moonstone to resurrect, they make the difficult choice to shatter it. Fengling then decides to join their ranks, setting out together on the adventure to find the remaining Moonstones.
