Description

Plants are like air. Wherever you go, there are plants. Blooming flowers, swaying standing trees, cereals on the table, fruits, vegetables, these are all plants. Books that you read, wooden chairs that you sit on to study, are also made of plants. Even the air that we breathe is provided by plants. Therefore, plants always live with us and give us immense benefits. However, how much do we know about plants? There are many unusual things, but, to tell the truth, there are not so many amazing things like plants. Delicate leaves slowly grow out from a tiny seed, and they rapidly grow and stand up sky-high.The biggest creature in the world is a plant. Also, the oldest creature in the world is a plant. The maximum size of blue whales is about 30 meters, but, bamboo or metasequoia trees grow more than 100 meters tall.Although turtles can live up to 200 years, there are many trees that live over 500 or 1,000 years. Furthermore, some plants are carnivores, and eat insects, and some plants hold out squiggly-shaped hands to climb a tree. Some plants even announce danger to there friends when it approaches.Unlike animals, plants have no feet, and don't have to wander very hard to find foods. If there is sunlight and water, plants can make enough nutrients and energy on their own and to support life.Plants can't sing loudly because they don't have the mouths, but they produce offspring as they find mates. Plants successfully marry through a wonderful plan, sometimes using wind, and sometimes using birds and insects. Blossoming a colorful pretty flower, emitting a soft fragrance, and making sweet honey and berries, are all plans for marriage.Flowers, grass and trees have dominated the Earth long before human beings existed, and have been fostering all lives on Earth. But, now, plants are facing a crisis. Trees are being cut down and set on fire by people who have lived comfortably with the help of plants. Forests that are more than 300 times the size of Seoul are disappearing each year, and the Earth is groaning with pain. How can we save plants, and how can we save precious Earth? This book introduces what plants are, where they come from, what they do, and how they have changed and still living. Let's travel around the world of plants that can make you amazed, and you'll see creatures that live wonderfully with their own attractive characters.
