Description

When the GDR state is criticized, the people who lived in it often also feel criticized. This makes conversations within families about their life in the GDR so difficult. Many remain silent to this day, but anger grows in their silence.

On the initiative of filmmakers Sabine Michel and Dörte Grimm, children and parents from very different backgrounds dare to examine their own history for the first time. These conversations encourage people to talk to each other in a new way and without accusations. At the same time, they help to understand current political developments in East Germany differently and better by opening our eyes to the long-term consequences of life in a total of three political systems.
