——Reader review (Amazon Japan, 5 stars)
"Not only useful for yourself, it also seems helpful when you want to encourage a friend with low self-esteem. What stayed with me was the method for knowing your own worth: list what the admirable people around you have in common, and those traits are, in fact, your own strengths too."
——Reader review (Amazon Japan, 4 stars)

Description
Do you often find yourself like this? A single casual remark from someone can keep you turning it over for a long time; after meeting people, you need time alone to recover; you care a great deal about how others see you, yet cannot speak up about what you think; and "I'll just put up with it, as long as I do" has become a habit. This is not "overthinking," and it is not being "fragile." Psychology calls this trait of being especially alert to outside stimuli "high sensitivity" (HSP). It tires you easily, and it also makes you more delicate and more empathetic than most people.
The author, Hiroyuki Nemoto, is a veteran counselor in Japan who has long worked with people who are "too sensitive." In his view, people with low self-esteem are not "the problem"; they are, in fact, "people of remarkable talent, with nothing but possibility," who simply tend to notice their shortcomings first. As self-esteem is raised little by little, the very things once seen as weaknesses begin to shine one by one.
The book's 7-day practice is presented by the manga artist Emiko Morishita through manga scenes and column notes:
DAY 1 Turn your attention to your present self;
DAY 2 Re-examine your past;
DAY 3 Re-examine your past family relationships;
DAY 4 Raise your self-esteem;
DAY 5 Build relationships at your own pace;
DAY 6 Turn sensitivity into a strength;
DAY 7 Fulfill what you truly want to do.
The exercises are concrete and doable. They require no background in psychology and no large blocks of time: read a little and follow along a little each day. For readers who are long-term overthinkers, who care too much about others' opinions, and who want to raise their self-esteem, this is a gentle, practical, low-threshold manga introduction.
