Description
The author devotes a lot of space to the story of the Louvre's proud "Mona Lisa." After reading the secret stories related to the eyes, nose, mouth, and the unique smile of the "Mona Lisa," readers cannot help but resonate with the reasons why it is a masterpiece. The birth stories of "Napoleon Crossing the Alps at the Great Saint Bernard Pass" and "The Coronation of Emperor Napoleon I and the Crowning of the Empress" by Jacques-Louis David, who had a talent for capturing people's hearts, are also very interesting. In Édouard Manet's "Luncheon on the Grass" and "Olympia," which caused a sensation in the French art world, we see Manet's courage to break away from traditional beauty and create a new, innovative beauty.
Nevertheless, the author states that there is no definitive answer to "what makes a good painting." Works that are highly valued in the art world may vary with the changes in era, social atmosphere, and trends. Therefore, the author selects his own "this is it!" best works by visiting famous French art museums. The author says, "Good works are not decided by others, but by myself," a viewpoint that deeply resonates with those who truly seek to gain something through art appreciation.
