Description
Disorganized attachment has become a concept that is both used and misunderstood in the professional field, which greatly limits the understanding of the great potential that the phenomenon of disorganization has for work in psychotherapy. This book revisits the concept in depth and returns to the original path in its study: attachment disorganization reflects the functional limits of individual and dyadic experiential processing strategies built throughout development. From this starting point, unfounded myths are dismantled and the evolutionary paths with the greatest risk are outlined, starting from disorganization in early childhood, those that entail greater bonding difficulties and problems in the constitution of individual regulation and processing capacities. A tentative map of the relationship between attachment, personality and psychopathology is proposed, as well as a practical guide to the principles of intervention and adjustments in psychotherapy with adults, which strategically guide the process and favor both the bond and the ability to integrate.
