Description

Yalvaç Ural, one of the most acclaimed Turkish authors of children’s literature, compiles 46 Sumerian fables in this book. Carved on clay tablets thousands of years ago, these Sumerian fables could be the very first fables of human history and the first literary products of the Sumerian oral narrative tradition. During a research of twelve years, the author worked on these tablets and round up broken structures, proverbs, idioms, missing translations left to us by the Sumerian. Finding similarities between Aesop’s fables and Sumerian writings on tablets, the experienced author aims to show us that the first ever written fables could be these Sumerian fables. The illustrations of Erdoğan Oğultekin reflects the life in those times. An enlightening title to discover a glimpse of Sumerian history.
