The rapid comeback of the wolf, lynx and bear in our agricultural landscape has taken experts, too, by surprise. Today, in Germany, Austria and Switzer-land, there are populations of wolves and lynxes, and bears repeatedly cross the borders from Italy and Slovenia. This inevitably leads to conflicts: How should we best deal with these large predators? In this book, nine authors examine the biology, ecology and management of the animals from a sound scientific basis. The conflicts arising between hunting and agriculture are identified, and solutions are put forward. What are the possibilities, and what are the limits of management?
