Description

The novel is set decades in the future, when the world has rendered Russian oil and gas useless to other nations thanks to a newly discovered energy source called phlogiston. Russia has a lot of deposits in the West, but almost none in Russia itself and in the Eastern world. With nothing of value to sell, the West is no longer interested in Russia, and Russia is left to fend for itself. Russia is also increasingly passive in state conflicts and wars for power and territorial dominance, which further depletes Russia's already meager resources. A comical civil war was also taking place in Russia at this time.
This book traces the fate of four lovers trying to escape the chaos and foolish war that surrounds them: a little girl and a homeless man; a poet and his lover forever separated from him; a governor and his love An Aboriginal woman; a legendary commander and his rival girlfriend. The plot of the novel is ups and downs, grasping the heart. The author uses a metaphorical way to express his concern and exploration of the way forward for the motherland.
