Review

The book is a great act of love by Andruetto for literature as a key to access freedom. ——Adrianna di Genova, Il Manifesto

The register is so delicate and effective that it can touch on many potentially sensitive issues (isolation, sadness, homosexuality, diversity), without any of them becoming “the topic”: it is just a story of the power of encounter and openness to others. ——MangiaLibri, Italy

Description

In the 1950s, in a village with no school or library, a girl who was hungry for knowledge became good friends with a man who kept herself at home all day long. The girl’s name is Clara. She borrows books from a man, and the man passes the book to her from the window. On the contrary, she tells the man what the outside world looks like. Birds, plants, rocks, and rivers are called what name. In this way, the girl fell in love with the story in the book, and the man slowly stopped being afraid of the outside world.
