Description

  Mum always looked after everyone in the family until she got sick. Now she is in hospital and everyone has to take their turn to help. Routines are changed and neighbours help to support Dad and the two boys by bringing dinner to the doorstep every day. For the children this is a fun guessing game but at time sit highlights that Mum is not with them and their fears as to her whether she will ever recover leaving the reader will find their own interpretation and meaning to what might happen.

About the Author
Elizabeth Mary Cummings has qualifications in psychology and a Masters of Education. She has had a number of successful picture books and junior fiction titles published, as well as award winning poetry. Her stories often take a child’s perspective to explain the world and reflect on important life experiences including themes of resilience, grief, empowerment, anti-bullying and mental health. She is a sought-after speaker on the subject of childhood well being.

About the Illustrator
Bronte Goodieson is an exceptional young artist and graphic designer based in Sydney who was engaged to illustrate for Dinner on the Doorstep in part due to her understanding of the subject matter and in particular for her remarkable use of colour and texture to build a fanciful and yet deeper meaning to the illustrations. Not restricting herself to graphic design, she has won acclaim for her sensational paintings, winning several awards and contracts since her graduation.
