In this book, Claudia has to take an immigrant’s day as the background and write an essay about the life of a family or a person who immigrated to Brazil. Not knowing who she can write about, Claudia seeks help from her mother, who tells her that his grandfather is actually Chinese, although there wasn’t much contact before.
Claudia visits her grandfather’s bookstore several times in order to better interview him and learns more about Chinese immigrants. There, she makes some great discoveries: besides the Chinese food, which is known all over the world, the importance of the city where his grandfather was born, Mandarin, the great Chinese inventions, Chinese sports and martial arts. In the end, she realizes that she and her grandfather have actually been tied for thousands of years.

[Author] Wang Dongyan
Wang Dongyan was born in 1967 in Jilin, in northern China. She studied fine arts, was a full professor at the Beijing Normal University and won several renowned awards for her works in China. Dongyan lived in Germany and came to Brazil in 2008, where she lives with her husband Martin Wille and their daughter Leah. She currently teaches fine arts at São Bento College in São Paulo.

[Illustrator] Yan Pinheiro
He is a psychoanalyst, cartoonist and illustrator. He has participated in several international cartoon salons and exhibitions and was invited to become a member of the National Cartoonists Society. He lives in São Paulo and is increasingly dedicated to illustrating books.

[Illustrator] Ulisses Perez
He is from Paraná but lives in São Paulo. He started out drawing for illustrations such as “Pokémon” and “Dragon Ball”. Today he has several styles, seen in children’s projects, educational, instructional, comics and advertisements.
