Review

“Rustam Vakhitov’s book on Lenin is nothing short of an encyclopedia brimming with fascinating anecdotes and eyewitness accounts. Without a doubt, the book also offers a meticulous and incisive analysis of the lies, fallacies, and ignorant narratives that have accumulated over the past century in Russian—and indeed global—intellectual circles since Lenin’s death. To be honest, I’ve spent my entire life reading books about Lenin, yet I found something new on every single page of this one. As I read, I couldn’t help but marvel at every turn: So this is what he was really like—this is the real person, the true giant. You should all rush to read it as well.”
— Renowned writer Zakhar Prilepin.

Description

Russian culture shines brightly thanks to such luminaries as Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, and Chekhov—but there is another name that instantly comes to mind on every continent whenever people think of Russians or Russia: Lenin. Lenin is a superstar, the most globally recognized Russian in history. He embodies the Russian nation’s relentless pursuit of truth and justice, serving as a dynamic embodiment of the energy of Eurasian civilization—a force that has swept across the world stage, accelerating the pulse of history itself. To this day, Lenin remains deeply revered in China, Vietnam, Venezuela, Ethiopia, and all countries that resist neo-colonialism. Yet in his own homeland, people either feel ashamed to mention him or deliberately concoct absurd, slanderous rumors about him. This book tells the story of Lenin’s legendary global fame and dismantles the wild myths that have long surrounded him. These lies and misconceptions are easily debunked, for Lenin and Russia are bound together by an unbreakable bond of blood and destiny. We are the inheritors of Lenin’s legacy.
