Description
Author
Veronica Genovese is Sicilian and grew up between two small towns in the province of Messina. She attended an Art High School, graduating in Advertising Graphics, and later completed a three-year course in Comics and Illustration, followed by a Master’s degree in New Languages of Animation, Illustration and Comics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo. She loves the idea of bringing stories to life through illustration, comic art and animation.
Monica Fornaciari
After completing a degree in Marketing, her training at an advertising agency specialising in fashion photography and imagery irreversibly derailed her life, setting her on the path of freelance work as an Art Director and Graphic Designer.
She lives in Reggio Emilia and collaborates with a wide range of organisations, working both with direct clients and advertising agencies, moving fluidly between graphic design and storytelling.
In 2017, she attended the course Audiovisual and Multimedia Production for Children and Young People at Bottega Finzioni in Bologna. Since then, stories have become increasingly central to her work, leading her to found Storyteaching: a start-up project that uses animated storytelling to create educational tools — animated videos, interactive books and board games — designed to support primary school teaching, with particular attention to children experiencing learning difficulties.
Since 2021, she has had the privilege of working with (and for) the creativity of children and young people, collaborating with Pangea Coop. Soc. and the Festival Punto e a Capo, and organising creative writing workshops as well as painting and hands-on ateliers based on the reuse of scrap and leftover materials.
Since 2021, she has also been publishing picture books with small independent publishers, including Diana and Happiness (winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Schwanenstadt International Picture Book Competition in 2017) and The Game of the Five Wisdoms (winner of the Best Text Award at the “Un albo per Livio” competition, promoted by Libris in Fabula in 2020).
