Review

"The Goldfinches teaches readers to savor the beauty of the ordinary world around us (…) This is the novel's profound wisdom: it reveals that beauty and the capacity for wonder reside within every human being, flowing from us into the world, making us and others better. Such an attitude casts a spell—the reality surrounding us becomes our own 'little heaven'."
(From a review by Jolanta Metera in "Nowe Książki")

Description

Zojka is extraordinary. She possesses a unique gift. She adores colors and creates pictures from pebbles, beads, and fallen leaves, calling them "little heavens." When she starts working at the Shelter, she meets Igor, an eternally sullen boy whose face brightens only at the sight of animals. Their destinies will intertwine in the most unexpected ways.
