Review

“Bozze non corrette has already been acquired in the United States, France, Spain, and Brazil, and negotiations are underway with other countries. It is quite a surprising result that a book which plays so extensively with the Italian language has been purchased to be published
abroad, therefore in translation.”
——Il Post

Description

Uncorrected Proofs is a game-book in which every page contains ten errors, for a total of one thousand mistakes (spelling errors, inconsistencies, typos, fact checking, etc.). Half of the pages explores the world of the Proofreader and his investigation into the death of his close friend, the great writer Niccolò Errante. The other half features book excerpts from various styles and genres (historical, instructional, experimental novels, science fiction, and the great classics of Italian literature, from Manzoni to Boccaccio, from Pirandello to Svevo, including Leopardi) on which the Proofreader is working for a fictional major publisher. Every mistake is a tile in an intricate puzzle to piece together a secret message that will help readers solve the mystery of Errante’s death: who is the culprit?
