This book is extremely popular and beautifully written... If you love music or know someone who does, this book is definitely the best gift for the holidays.
It is so fortunate that all these creative women have finally received the recognition they deserve. We should be grateful and respectful to Arno Lucke, as he has drawn our attention to these great musicians.

Description

This is a musical journey exploring the unknown and unheard voices.
Hardly any social and artistic field is as deeply rooted in tradition as the world of classical music. Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Verdi and Wagner dominate the stages of concert halls and opera houses. But even today, why are the names of female composers still rarely found in their repertoire? Most people interested in music can probably only name Clara Schumann, Hildegard von Bingen, and perhaps Fanny Mendelssohn. But there are many more! For years, Arno Lucien has been dedicated to bringing classical music to the present and researching the lives and music of female composers. Most of them had to overcome numerous obstacles to fight for their own creative space.
This book brings together 250 female composers from all over the world and across several centuries. Through fascinating short portraits, he immerses us in the lives of these musicians. And a question always lingers: What do these unknown pieces of music sound like? Arno Lucien opens our eyes and ears to listen to those unheard voices.
