Review

“A thrilling addition to children’s literature — one that weaves science into fiction so naturally. Every story and every character incorporates the unique traits of real animals. The author clearly knows zoology well, blending animal behavior, scientific knowledge, and detective plots into a seamless whole. This is a beautiful meeting of science and literature.”
— Sun Zhengfan, Ph.D. in astrophysics, member of the China Science Writers Association

“There are two kinds of books worthy of children’s boundless curiosity: adventure stories and detective stories. ‘Detective Mikefox’ hides fascinating science within gripping mysteries — it nurtures and sustains that precious curiosity.”
— Rui Dongli, winner of the China Science Writers Association Outstanding Science Writing Award (Silver) and the National Library’s Wenjin Book Award

“A great bridge book for young readers. It packs science trivia, detective plots, and highlighted vocabulary. The case files section helps children deepen their understanding and attention to detail.”
— Reader review

Feature

★ A white fox detective in a beret and pince-nez glasses. A phantom thief who never shows his true face. Six cases, six head‑to‑head confrontations — and every mystery is cracked with real science.
★ Series sales exceed 10 million copies. Audio dramas have surpassed 5.2 billion plays across platforms. Rights sold to Russia and Chinese (traditional script). A graphic novel adaptation is available, and a live stage show is currently touring.
★ “Knowledge is the weapon.” Each case is built on a real scientific principle — shark olfaction, seal whisker sensory function, quicklime heat generation — that children learn while reading.
★ For ages 6–12. One book set = detective storytelling + science learning + logic training. The series has 8 volumes to date, 6 books each. First arc includes: “The Fate Notice,” “The Dangerous ‘Thrush’,” “The Secret of the Golden Water,” “The Real vs. Fake Mikefox,” “The Pharaoh‘s Treasure,” and “The Museum Mystery.”

Description

On Grall Island, animals live in peace — until a string of thefts signed by the “Thousand-Faced Phantom” throws the entire island into panic. A pearl crown disappears from a jewelry exhibition. Royal meals keep vanishing. A renovation warehouse catches fire under suspicious circumstances. Each crime seems flawless. But Detective Mikefox always finds the breakthrough — in the smallest, most overlooked details.
Detective Mikefox is a white fox of wit and elegance. He wears a beret, a long plaid trench coat, and a gold-rimmed monocle. His signature line: “No crime escapes my eyes.”
The series’ defining feature: knowledge is the weapon. Every case is anchored in a real scientific principle. Readers learn about a shark‘s extraordinary sense of smell, how a seal’s whiskers detect subtle changes in water flow, and why quicklime generates heat when exposed to water. The detective work is rigorous, the reasoning transparent — children build observation skills, logical thinking, and scientific literacy page by page.
The world of Grall Island is brought to life by a vivid cast: the loyal and brave assistant Jiusha (a bird), the earnest but occasionally bumbling Officer Pig, and the ever‑elusive Thousand‑Faced Phantom — a rival who never reveals his true identity.
This set — the “Thousand‑Faced Phantom Arc” — is the opening chapter of the series. It contains six books: “The Fate Notice,” “The Dangerous ‘Thrush’,” “The Secret of the Golden Water,” “The Real vs. Fake Mikefox,” “The Pharaoh‘s Treasure,” and “The Museum Mystery.”
Each volume presents a self‑contained mystery, while a larger thread runs through the arc: the duel between Mikefox and the phantom thief. Why does the Thousand‑Faced Phantom steal? What is his true face? And why does he seem to be playing a game with Mikefox instead of simply evading capture?
The answers are woven into the cases themselves — and every clue points back to science.
