Warring States Period”: The Warring States period was a continuation of the great change in the Spring and Autumn period. From the division of Jin into three families and the substitution of Tian for Qi, the vassal states competed with each other until the unification was completed by Qin's destruction of the six kingdoms. The early Warring States period was marked by the division of the three kingdoms into Jin and the replacement of the king's way by the hegemonic way, which started the war of the seven kingdoms with the main purpose of mutual annexation. In the latter part of the Warring States period, Qin went eastward, and eventually King Zhao of Qin destroyed the Eastern Zhou, and Emperor Qin Shihuang unified the six states.
