Description

A true K-thriller, the first book of the Butterfly Hunt trilogy

A brutal and tragic crime novel based on true crime by a detective and novelist Park Youngkwang. A cruel psychopath who wishes to “replace stupid god and kill every rich pigs”, builds his own safe house and kidnaps women randomly to practice murder. He slaughters them and even eats their flesh. This unforgivable psychopath and his “follower” character are appalling, but not unfamiliar. It reminds the readers of the true crime of Chijon family gang that shook Korea in the 90s.

As cases of missing people and traffic accidents piling up in a peaceful country side village, Ha Tae-seok, a problematic detective who have been demoted from Seoul, detects a hint of a big case. However, even unwelcomed by his fellow detectives, he is unable to find concrete evidence and just when he decides to give up on the case, his one and only family, his younger sister goes missing. Will
Ha Tae-seok be able to catch the clever murderer and save his beloved sister?

Through this book, the author focus not only on the brutality of the crime, but how the indifference and discrimination of our society have created a “monster,” and warns that without fundamental change, such crime can always happen again.
