Description

Ever since Yevgeny Prigozhin defied Vladimir Putin and shook the world, no one has been able to ignore the name of the leader of the Wagner Group.
However, before that day in June 2023, the paramilitaries were already operating in many fields in the service of Russian interests.
Investigators from the All Eyes on Wagner collective began tracking Prigozhin and his men around the world from the start of the attack on Ukraine in February 2022. They've gone right back to the origins to help us understand the ideology, methods and roadmap of this shadowy galaxy.
Lou Osborn and Dimitri Zufferey have analyzed all the world's territories in which Wagner operates, from its creation to the present day, and offer us a unique insight into what is a major threat to global stability and Western interests.

Author

DIMITRI ZUFFEREY, born in 1982 in Geneva, studied History, Arabic and Civilization of the Middle Ages. His thesis on the construction of modern Greece won the Ador Prize in History in 2009. Dimitri Zufferey finally chose journalism and joined Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), for which he still works in the areas of open source research (OSINT) and data-journalism. He also teaches online research at the University of Neuchâtel.

A graduate of Sciences Po Paris, LOU OSBORN studied geopolitics and international relations in the Netherlands, Russia and China. After an initial career in industry and cyber security for public and private organizations, she is now an investigator for the Center of Information Resilience's human rights violations research projects and a trainer in open source research and detection of influence operations in cyber space. She speaks Russian and has lived for a decade in Central Asia, the Middle East and Asia.

ALL EYES ON WAGNER: Since the end of 2021, the collective All Eyes on Wagner has been working in the manner of Bellingcat to track down the Wagner group. Their work has revealed the Diamville and Bois Rouge companies (in the Central African Republic), transactions with European Union companies and the head of the Wagner group in Mali (Ivan Maslov). They also detected the GPCI network last February, which is behind the influence campaign against French correspondents (and helped French daily Libération write its article about it).
Their method is OSINT (which got a lot of press with the war in Ukraine). They use satellite imagery, network analysis work on social networks, company registers or leaks in collaboration with the Dossier Center or DDOSecrets etc. and a network of local contacts to obtain information or documents.
