Description
In today's world umbrellas are such a familiar item that it's hard to imagine how to get around on a rainy day without one. But about two hundred years ago, an umbrella was a precious item that was carefully preserved, and if it broke, people would try to fix it. In the past, umbrellas were only used for protection from the sun, not from the rain. Even earlier, thousands of years ago, only rulers had the pleasure of having such an accessory and walking under an umbrella, it was undignified to appear in public without it, imagine the splendor of this umbrella: bamboo, paper, silk, decorated with paintings, precious stones, feathers!
After reading this book, you will learn the true history of the umbrella. Where umbrellas got their name, who invented them, what they look like in different countries, and even how to make one yourself!
