Meanwhile, the perfectly scanned rhymes are complemented by delicious words like bilious, slewing, and peevish. Don’t know the tune? Sheet music is provided at the end alongside a section offering more info on each mythic sea creature, adroitly named “Now, Here Be Our Monsters.” Featuring dramatic angles and plenty of action, Brundage’s energetic art perfectly portrays a diverse cast of kids and colorful capering creatures. Arrr! Bring out the piratical storytimes! This catchy read-aloud demands to be sung at the top of your lungs.

“The catchy sea shanty is imminently hummable, and a page of sheet music is included. Alliteration, rhyming, and clever wordplay support language arts lessons, all while introducing new nautical vocabulary. A fun musical maritime adventure, perfect for interactive read-aloud sessions.”
Description
Author
Lynn Becker has worked in animation for film and TV. When she’s not writing picture books or book reviews, she’s out hiking near her home in Longmont, Colorado.
Illustrator: Scott Brundage
Scott Brundage is a Brooklyn-based illustrator and character designer. As a child, his parents rightly decided he was far too indoorsy for his own heath and encouraged him to try various hobbies. When T-ball’s rules confused him and judo required too much coordination, he found his love for drawing cartoons at a local art class. Scott has sketched and painted ever since, eventually attending the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. His children’s books include Where’s My Cow? and The First Men Who Went to the Moon. His work has been recognized by American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, and the Society of Illustrators. Learn more at scottbrundage.com.
