Description

Originally published in installments in 1897, The Invisible Man recounts the contradictions of a brilliant young scientist who discards all ethics in favor of his thirst for domination and personal gain. This timeless classic by the British writer H. G. Wells, known as the father of science fiction, asks us to reflect on the ethical limits of science in this age of rapid medical and technological advances.

The novel begins on a snowy day, with the arrival of a man, covered with bandages, hat and dark glasses, to a tiny English town. A few days later, the disturbing character receives a package full of test tubes and chemicals, and locks himself in to work on a mysterious experiment. Everything indicates that he has suffered a terrible accident. However, the curiosity of the neighbors is stronger than compassion and little by little they will be able to extract this terrible secret from this stranger.

This work of absolute validity becomes more terrifying than ever through the illustrations of Scafati, one of the most important Argentine plastic artists and flagship illustrator of the Libros del Zorro Rojo catalog. The prints, in rigorous black and white, made with a technique reminiscent of woodcut engraving, admirably recreate the fateful atmosphere of a society upset by the behavior of an individual who acts with total impunity when he is not seen.
