Author
Alexander Ivich (1900-1978)
A Soviet writer, essayist, literary scholar, critic, and publisher. Ivich graduated from high school with honors and experienced the 1905 Russian Revolution. In 1920, he founded and managed a small publishing house while contributing articles to newspapers. He reported on World War II and was awarded two medals.
Ivich is renowned for his children’s educational popular science books. His works on invention history, engineering achievements, global discoveries, and science were published by the National Children’s Publishing House. Despite the passage of time, these books remain popular among young readers.
About the Illustrator
Alexander Chukavin
A graduate of the Moscow Institute of Architecture. For years, he and his wife Irina Uvarova have illustrated children’s literature and non-fiction books. To date, Chukavin has served as the illustrator for over 200 books, including works like the “Children’s Encyclopedia of Vehicles” series, which have been licensed for publication in China.
