Roser Calafell
She was born in 1973 into an artistic family in the province of Barcelona, Spain. Her parents were modernist painters and sculptors, and from a young age, she was deeply influenced by their art and had the opportunity to be exposed to many masterpieces. Due to the artistic impact of her parents and these works, she chose to attend the Barcelona School of Painting for Women, and later studied at the Llotja School of Arts in Barcelona.
In 1997, she officially began her professional career, illustrating for numerous publishing houses and children's books, including collaborations with university presses such as Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press in the UK.
Currently, she collaborated most frequently with the Spanish Lagar Publishing House for Children's Books, with over 70 works published through this publisher. Among them, the Magical Yellow Magic Car • A Happy and Enriching Journey of Discovery Series was the bestseller of the year; the "My Months" Series had sold 280,000 copies. She herself was also the best-selling illustrator of that publishing house.
In 2017, she was invited to participate in the Bologna International Children's Book Fair as one of the representative illustrators from Spain. At present, in addition to illustrating, she also designed promotional artwork and trademarks for many well-known companies.
