Feature

★ Written by a Seoul National University PhD and experts from a renowned Korean educational research institute, this science-based parenting guide is specifically designed for highly sensitive, easily emotionally explosive children and has been jointly recommended by parenting experts, including Yoon Ji-young, author of “Mom’s Language Practice.”
★ It directly addresses the pain points of modern parenting: children who cry easily, throw tantrums, and struggle to express their emotions. Starting with parents’ own emotional regulation, the book teaches you how to stay calm first, then decode the signals behind your child’s emotions.
★ It includes highly practical “mom-style” emotion-coaching strategies: from how to respond when your child has an emotional outburst, to daily 10-minute emotion-dialogue exercises, and interactive games that enhance your child’s social skills and self-control—covering everyday parenting needs in real-life scenarios.
★ Grounded in psychology and neuroscience, it dispels the misconception that “sensitivity equals a flaw,” helping parents turn their child’s emotional traits into strengths and cultivate lifelong emotional-regulation and resilience skills.

Description

“When parents listen to their children’s hearts rather than just their words, children become more resilient and braver in the face of the world.” — A mother who studies psychology and brain science, holding a Ph.D. from Seoul National University and serving as a full-time professor at the Korean Enneagram Education Institute, shares her experience with emotional coaching.

When raising children, we often encounter situations like this: a child cries or throws tantrums all day, easily bursts into tears over small things, or suddenly loses their temper for no apparent reason. At times like these, parents usually say, “It’s okay, stop it now.” But such words can leave children feeling emotionally abandoned. A child’s emotional education begins with their relationship with their parents. Many parents find this challenging because they focus entirely on their child’s emotions without first taking care of their own.

“Children’s Emotional Regulation” is a book born out of precisely this struggle.

The author emphasizes that emotions are not innate; they are skills that must be learned, and parents are a child’s first teachers. In particular, when parents use negative labels like “sensitive” or “crybaby” to define their child’s emotions, it can lead to emotional distortion and suppression. Drawing on research in neuroscience and psychology, the author sharply points out how parental language shapes a child’s emotional world.

The author herself experienced a parenting journey akin to an “emotional war” while raising a child with highly fluctuating emotions—refusing to go to kindergarten, separation anxiety, and constant tantrums. Rather than suppressing or controlling her child’s emotions, she chose to patiently observe her inner world and help her child process those feelings together. As a result, her child grew up to express emotions freely and enjoy school life with happiness.

Since then, the author has continued to share practical parenting methods that combine “children’s emotional education” with “parental emotional coaching,” gaining widespread resonance and attention from many parents through authentic, skill-based Reels videos.

The book also offers a wealth of strategies for nurturing a healthy emotional world in children:
• Age-specific explanations of children’s emotional development
• Concrete, realistic approaches that parents can understand and apply to support their children
• Ten-minute daily routines—such as in the morning, after school, and before bed—that teach children how to manage their emotions
• Targeted conversation and play techniques for when children feel “anger,” “jealousy,” or “anxiety”

“Children’s Emotional Regulation” is a warm and sincere guide to emotional education, dedicated to parents who wish to raise children who remain steady and confident in their hearts, as well as to all parents who aspire to grow alongside their children into better versions of themselves.

Full-time Professor, Korean Institute for Child Education

She is both a spiritual mentor to mothers and the director of the “Mom Family Relationship Institute,” guiding entire families toward happiness. As a full-time professor at the Korean Institute for Child Education, she dedicates herself to helping people strengthen their inner resilience through various lectures and courses. In her daily experience of raising a sensitive child, she has personally come to understand the wisdom of emotional regulation and continues to share her insights on social media, offering deep comfort and resonance to mothers who feel anxious and self-blaming under the pressures of parenting. She believes that emotions are not weaknesses to be overcome or suppressed, but rather signals that illuminate our inner world, and that anyone can cultivate a strong inner core through practice.
