Feature
★ The author has kept turtles since 2006. After a spell of living alone without them, loneliness drove her to bring one back to her side. In four-panel comics, she faithfully chronicles the humble, tender life of doting on a creature that never dotes back.
★ A complete catalogue of classic turtle bewilderment: you think it’s looking at you, but it’s just spacing out; food gets stuck on its shell without it ever noticing; it meets your affection with a blank, expressionless face… Every page makes pet owners laugh and tear up at once.
★ Perfect for anyone who has ever kept a pet — especially the aloof, independent kind. A healing comic that will have you crying, “This is exactly what mine does!”
Description
Utterly ignored by an utterly expressionless turtle — and yet, you can’t help finding it unbearably adorable!
A manga essay that portrays the real, slightly absurd daily life of turtles and their humans — with post after post racking up tens of thousands of likes on social media.
Author
Born in Tokyo. Manga artist and illustrator. In 2006, she started keeping two red-eared sliders at her family home. In 2020 she began living alone — without turtles. In 2022, unable to bear the loneliness any longer, she brought one of the turtles from her family home to live with her. She is completely smitten. Since November 2023, she has been posting four-panel turtle-keeping comics on social media.
