Author

Alan Mills was a folksinger, writer, and actor who released several albums on Folkways Records. His performance at the 1960 Newport Folk Festival was preserved on a Vanguard recording. He also found lasting success as a singer with the CBC radio show "Folk Songs for Young Folk," which ran from 1947-59. He was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1974.

As a member of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, Gilles Vigneault is hailed as one of Canada’ s most influential music figures of the 20th century, especially as a champion Qué bé cois folksinger. His work often evokes his great love of nature and the passion he has for his hometown of Natashquan, a remote, windswept village on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. He has received numerous distinctions including the Grand prix du disque de l’ Acadé mie Charles-Cros in France and the Mé daille Vermeil offered by the City of Paris. He lives in Montreal.

Lionel Daunais, a celebrated baritone, composer, and lyricist, received honors like the Canadian Music Council Medal and Calixa-Lavallé e Award. He was posthumously awarded the Denise-Pelletier Award and inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.

Marie Lafrance studied graphic arts, etching, and worked as a printmaker before going on to illustrate children’ s books. Over her career she’ s earned three nominations for the Governor General’ s Literary Award, and she recently received the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’ s Book Award for “ A Hen for Izzy Pippik.” She resides in Montreal.
