Elena Agostinis is a painter, sculptor, interior designer, writer, and creative visionary who loves both life and art. She is renowned for her fearless use of color, her inclusive design philosophy, and her unwavering pursuit of a beautiful life. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, she studied graphic design at Stellenbosch University and moved to the United States with her husband, Mark, in 1975. Her design career began at the Conde Nast Group; later, as a freelance designer, she continued to bring bold ideas to life while raising two sons.
A bold creative master, Elena Agostinis has seen her homes grace the covers of numerous magazines and captivate design enthusiasts around the world. These spaces unabashedly reveal her distinctive personality, brimming with heartfelt warmth and leaving an indelible impression on all who encounter them.
Elena’s background in graphic design, her years at Conde Nast, and her experience running a boutique have together shaped her vibrant visual language. In 2003, she launched the Tannersville Painted Project, transforming a quiet town in the Catskill Mountains into a dynamic outdoor art gallery. What began as a colorful experiment quickly drew national attention and, in 2021, helped the town win a $10 million “Downtown Revitalization Initiative” grant—recognition and funding typically reserved for major cities.
