Review

"Anatomical practice was a grand adventure, full of dramatic moments, singular stories, psychological challenges, and paradoxical situations—told here through lively, curious, and accessible narrative."
—Paolo Mazzarello

Feature

★An enthralling investigation that blends science, history, and culture, revealing the crucial role of anatomy in understanding ourselves and advancing medicine.

Description

The globally famous TV series CSI, the unsettling films of David Cronenberg, the extraordinary success of the Body Worlds exhibition… What connects these seemingly distant media worlds? Simply: human anatomy, the analysis of our body in all its intricate facets. This book is a passionate journey through anatomical history; written in the style of an adventure novel, it shows how humans, since ancient times, have been powerfully drawn to the inner complexity of their own bodies.

From Egyptian embalming to dissections in ancient Greece, from "body snatchers" to modern autopsy rooms, from the daring of early anatomists to the macabre aesthetics of anatomical wax models, the human body has gradually revealed its deepest secrets. Fueling, between science and mystery, a timeless fascination.
