Description

“Teacher for a Day” tells the amusing story of an animal named “Chacha Bear,” who is mistakenly taken for a teacher. With its light-hearted, imaginative plot, the book delivers a series of hilarious moments, allowing readers to fully enjoy the pleasure of reading.

The mountain where Chacha Bear lives has been closed to humans for two years in order to protect the environment. As a result, Chacha Bear has been freely using the human public restroom in the mountains—and he’s thoroughly delighted with it, as it’s clean and warm. On this particular day, Chacha Bear heads to the restroom as usual, humming a tune. But then an unexpected twist occurs: voices from the next stall catch his attention. Unaware that today is the very day the forest is reopening to visitors, Chacha Bear panics and tries to make a quick escape. To his horror, a group of children is already waiting outside the restroom door!

With no other choice, Chacha Bear hastily disguises himself and steps out of the restroom—only to be met with a chorus of shouts from the children: “Teacher!” Startled, Chacha Bear desperately tries to run away and hide to shake off the kids, but his efforts are futile. As Chacha Bear struggles to keep his true identity hidden, the children, convinced he is their teacher, chase after him without letting up. How will this wild chase come to an end? Why do the children mistake Chacha Bear for a teacher? And where has the real teacher gone?

Author

Kim Eun-bi
On a crisp, clear autumn day, I made a trip to Hallasan Mountain. I set off up the mountain earlier than most others, but by the time I reached Baengnokdam and began my descent, I ended up being the last one to come down. As the light grew dim and I neared the exit, I came across a sika deer standing quietly beside the hiking trail. It seemed to be waiting for everyone else to leave. It was from this thought—“When the hiking trails, rest benches, and viewing platforms we walk along during the day are empty, what do sika deer and other animals get up to there?”—that my book “Let’s Be Teachers Today” was born.
