Description
Ernie Marino is 20 years old and a Potential—a person who "burns out" when they lose the meaning of life. Others avoid Potentials, as they might destroy everything around them. Ernie studies at a university and hides his unique identity from his friends. Each day, he draws closer to burning out. One day, Ernie encounters another Potential during a lecture—and from that moment, his life is turned upside down.
The second volume picks up where the first left off. After a tragic incident at the university, Ernie's episodes become more frequent: he constantly sees Vanished Ones—Potentials who have burned out and turned into phantoms—around him. Unwilling to hurt his loved ones, Ernie distances himself from them and takes a part-time job at a café, where he meets a girl who knows nothing about his past. As their friendship deepens, Ernie is plagued by an increasingly heavy question: Who is he, really?
