Description

The first full-color art book by Korea’s renowned illustrator Pan Ji-soo, “A Walk with Two Cats: A Four-Seasons Color Book,” has been officially published. With its soothing cover, the book has already sparked a sensation in the bookstore world. It is imbued with the warm, distinctive emotions unique to Pan Ji-soo and vividly captures the diverse beauty of time as it passes—each season shining in its own way. From the blossoming flowers of spring and the glistening dewdrops of summer, to the vibrant, multicolored autumn leaves and the serene, snow-covered landscapes of winter—readers can create their very own works of art by coloring these illustrations, which possess a magical perspective that “captures fleeting moments as eternal.”

Like a gift set, this book offers a rich and varied array of content. It features coloring versions of the iconic cover illustrations from Pan Ji-soo’s million-selling books, including “The Inconvenient Convenience Store,” “Welcome to Hunam-dong Bookstore,” and “The Kitchen of Books,” along with 32 previously unpublished artworks that have never been revealed anywhere before. In addition, the first edition includes a special bonus: a signed copy, a poster, a postcard set, and a sticker pack—exclusive treasures that serve as a heartfelt gift and a personal message to fans who adore the artist’s work. So why wait? No matter the season—spring, summer, autumn, or winter—set out on a delightful artistic journey together with the two ever-cute cats!

Author

Ban Ji-soo
At the age of 23, while majoring in political science and diplomacy at university, Ban Ji-soo decided to pick up painting again. In the years that followed, she wandered and explored on her own, going through a period of obscurity. Even during those days of uncertainty—tossed between hope and despair, effort and exhaustion—she grew steadily, eventually making a living as an artist. Her works include “I Love Ordinary Things,” “A Walk with Two Cats: A Four-Season Color Album,” and she has contributed illustrations to the comic “Your Insta—Do You Want to Live in a House with a Yard?” She has also continuously created cover illustrations for books such as “The Inconvenient Convenience Store,” “The Wizard’s Bakery,” “Welcome to Hunandong Bookstore,” and “Snail Cafeteria.” Looking ahead, her dream is to create various types of books—picture books, comics, essays, and art collections—and she hopes that even when she becomes an elderly woman, she will still be able to keep painting for the rest of her life; this is her one and only dream.

I am Ban Ji-soo, and I work in a variety of fields related to painting. I create illustrations and animations, draw comics, and write. At first, I thought I would end up making videos, but before I knew it, I found myself doing work centered around books. Most of my day is spent reading, writing, and drawing. To make a living, I’ve drawn cover illustrations and illustrated three of my own books. I’ve been consistently creating covers for titles such as “The Inconvenient Convenience Store,” “Welcome to Hunandong Bookstore,” “The Last Train Station in the World,” “The Wizard’s Bakery,” “Snail Cafeteria,” and “The Kitchen of Books.” I’m grateful that the books I’ve illustrated have become bestsellers, which has led to a steady stream of invitations from the publishing industry. Looking ahead, I hope to use my artwork to create a wide range of book formats, including picture books, comics, essays, and art collections.
