Feature

An accessible book about the colonisation of Congo and its impact
A collaboration of both Congolese and Belgian experts

Description

This book, with powerful illustrations, tells the story of Congo during
the colonisation in a way that is accessible for children.

“Will the white men stay?” asks Kimia.
“They’re staying,” says her mother.
“Is the past over?” asks Kimia.
“Nothing will be the same again,” says her mother.

Kimia is six years old when white ghosts arrive in her village. We follow her life in colonial Congo. Kimia’s story is supplemented with facts about Congo and life before, during, and after colonization.
