Description

Suddenly, they appeared: humans. At first, they still climbed around in trees and were covered in hair. But soon after, they began walking in groups through tall grass, and seemed to have lost some of their hair. Before long, they started clothing themselves in animal skins – thus starting to resemble the gods a little.
The gods were one big family, with Zeus as their leader, the supreme God. They lived on the top of Mount Olympus, where they had built several palaces. They held feasts, took walks, and carried out their divine tasks.
But suddenly, those humans turned up! They built temples and made
various offerings. They also mastered fire, cleared forests, cultivated fields, and founded increasingly bigger cities; they swarmed the earth like ants.
Gradually, the gods began to realize that they were becoming less
powerful than before – those humans could no longer be ignored...

Author

Daan Remmerts de Vries is a successful author and illustrator. He writes for both children and adults. His work has been awarded several Gouden Penselen and Zilveren Penselen. In 2021, he received the Theo Thijssen Prize for children's and youth literature.
Illustrator Douwe Dijkstra creates posters, album covers, and comics.
