Author
An important Italian children’s writer, illustrator, and educator. He has published many books of different age groups, from children’s picture books to youth novels. His works mainly focus on social issues such as growth maladaptation, diversity, racism, integration, and discrimination, and are popular in more than 20 countries worldwide. He holds conferences for students, teachers, and educators in schools in Italy and abroad, recommending children’s literature as a tool for reading and understanding contemporary reality. In 2020, his novels became a compulsory reading in Germany for the final exam of the 10th class in the schools of Baden-Württemberg State.
Awards and nominations received:
•In 2017, his representative work “Sunshine between Fingers” won the Andersen Award in Italy and the Best Work Award for Children’s Literature above the Age of 15. It was selected for the 2017 IBBY Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities and won the 2020 the White Ravens.
•“Wolf in the Room” was nominated for the 2018 Strega Children’s Award and won the Best Foreign Book Award in the Venezuela Book Bank’s Best Children’s Book Award in 2021.
•“Moving Forward” won the Minerva Literature Award and Citizen Participation Award.
